"Coffee, the finest organic suspension ever devised." - Captain Kathryn Janeway

In case you couldn't tell, I am a fan of coffee. It all started back when I was working for one of the nearby counties. The facility I worked at had three shifts: Morning (which started at 6:15am), Evening (with a 2:30pm call time) and an overnight (start time was 10:30pm). At some point, everyone would have to work what we descriptively called a "double back". It was a PM shift where you went home at 10:30, then had to turn around and be back the next morning at 6:30. It wasn't fun. I survived for awhile, but I felt myself really starting to drag in the AMs. So, I started drinking coffee. I swear, at first it was purely a tool. Something that would keep me from falling asleep on the job which, of course, was a fireable offense.
One cup quickly turned into three and the rest was history.
They (ok, maybe just me) say that you can tell a lot about a person by how they take their coffee. My tastes are pretty basic. If I want something hot, I get a medium to dark roast, 2 Splendas (NO Stevia or Truvia or any other Vias) and half and half. Although lately, I have been foregoing any sort of creamer. Dairy tends to make congestion worse so I stopped during the throes of a particularly persistent cold. I'll have some on occasion, but for now, I'm in my black coffee era.
If I want something cold, which I usually do, I get a cold brew with 2 Splendas (again, if you put any stevia in there, I will lose my ever loving mind). Again, only sometimes on the creamer. Also, if I'm doing something where I know I'll be sipping the cold brew, I'll get 'light ice.' Gotta keep it strong for those long drives! Not like I go on a long drives, but it happens.
I'm also a big fan of coffeeshops. Few things make me feel more like a writer than going to a coffeeshop with my laptop and sitting down with a steaming cup to create some fantastic new story. And this is a judgement free zone, so if your coffeeshop is named after one of the pilots from Battlestar Galactica, then that is your coffeeshop. Be proud and fly that green and white flag! I know I do! I am currently a regular at two different Starbucks, which is kinda funny.
So enjoy, my fellow coffee (and tea) drinkers. Because most of our best writing comes after a warm sip of coffee. Or tea.
